I can respect what you've written here, but I don't know if you're bottom line is enough for many to accept.

It would seem that genocide in the OT will be a very tough issue with postmodern interpreters in the years to come (not that it isn't now). And I would honestly think that the problem is not easily addressable without a re-examining of our understandings of the inspiration of Scripture.

Genocide will always be a tough issue for Christians, but you may be right that it may especially trouble postmodern interpreters. It may, indeed, force a new generation to reassess its understanding of Scripture's inspiration.

Good post! In all of this, we have God's good and faithful promise: "Like a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on ALL those who fear Him" (Psalm 103:13).
